Dr. Dawn Bent began her career in neurosurgical critical care. As a critical care nurse, she segued quicky into pediatric intensive care, and it’s not by chance she’s remained with this patient population for over 30 years.
Dr. Bent is a practicing CRNA at St. Christopher’s Hospital Philadelphia PA and is Program Director for the Nurse Anesthesia Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bent has practiced anesthesia for almost 20 years along with educating the future of nurse anesthesiologists for over 16 years. Dr. Bent remains invested in clinical practice of anesthesia to better serve her students. She has been awarded for her clinical preceptorship and strives to improve patient experiences and outcomes. Dr. Bent believes remains invested in the clinical practice as an essential to excelling as an educator and her commitment to every student is recognized in her “Bent on Education” podcast and she enjoys sharing her expertise in anesthesia speaking at a multitude of anesthesia conferences.
Dr. Bent has served on committees within her university but also on a national level. Within the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse
Anesthetists (PANA), Dr. Bent has served on the Programs Committee, the Communications Committee, Chair of the Member Engagement Committee as well as a member of the Board of Trustees. Nationally, she has been elected to the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologist’s (AANA) Leadership Identification Committee as well as the Certificant Elected Director position for the National Boardof Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
