Rhea Temmermand

PhD Candidate, CRNA Scientist- Drexel University

Rhea Temmermand, PhD(c), MSN, CRNA is a neuropharmacologist and CRNA doing basic and translational research on chronic pain at Drexel University’s Pharmacology and Physiology Department.

She studies glutamate transporters (specifically GLT1/EAAT2) on astrocytes and its role in pain modulation. Rhea is particularly interested in sex differences, non-opioid drug discovery, and opioid addiction.

From this work, she was awarded the Art Zwerling Grant and the CRNA Scholar Award from the AANA Foundation. As an Adjunct Professor at Drexel University’s Nurse Anesthesia program, Ms. Temmermand also teaches pharmacology and senior board review.

She serves on several AANA and NBCRNA committees, is the Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Nurse Anesthesia Education and is co-editor of a comprehensive science textbook for nurse anesthesiologists. In addition, she is the co-owner of a science and anesthesia education platform called Atomic Anesthesia.
